Last Ramadan, we launched a campaign to raise money to open a transitional shelter for Muslim women and children in Windsor, ON. The city of Windsor hosts one of Canada’s largest Muslim populations per capita and as an economical border city, Windsor attracts many migrants, refugees and human trafficking victims. Our research found that about 25-30 visibly Muslim women accessed shelters across Windsor in 2016 alone. Since announcing this project, we've received at least 2 calls a week from women in need of a safe place.

Alhamdulillah, the campaign was hugely successful!

...we ran into challenges in securing the home, with the plan to rent initially. After receiving great advice from the heads of the Windsor community, a brilliant opportunity presented itself! What was the advice that was given to us?

Buy the Home instead!

We found a very well priced home, in a great location, and it met all of our requirements. And Alhumdulillah, thanks to all of our supporters, we were able to purchase our first home in Windsor, ON! At this home, we will be able to change the lives of the most vulnerable women and children in our communities who seek safety and shelter from abuse, unsafe home environment and/or homelessness, InShaAllah.

Buying This Home Means:

  1. Increased security for our staff and residents.
  2. Don't have to worry about landlords, or instability of landlords wanting to sell, or increasing the price multifold given what the house would be used for.
  3. Flexibility to customize the house to meet the needs of our residents.
  4. No monthly rental cost.
  5. A great opportunity for you to gain Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity).

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
“Whoever helps ease someone in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and in the Hereafter." [Sahih Muslim]

We are very close to reaching our goal of opening the home by Mid-November, InShaAllah. But we need your help! The purchase of this home added some additional infrastructure costs which we were not anticipating:

Help Us Reach 100%!

To date, we have raised $124,877.00. We are short by just $28,580.00!

Where The Funds Are Going

We are still in the process of completing the necessary renovations. More pictures coming soon as the renovations are completed.
